Authors discussed policy recommendations and contrast recent findings with oft-cited statistics

On December 1, RII, New Frontier Data, and the Berkeley Cannabis Research Center offered a sneak peek of the Cannabis Water Report at the MJBizCon’s 2020 Associations Day. The presentation provided essential information for anyone focused on cannabis cultivation water use, including cultivators, industry leaders, supply chain members, policymakers and media representatives.

A recording of the event is available on RII’s YouTube channel and for registered MJBizCon attendees on SwapCard.

A partnership between Resource Innovation Institute, New Frontier Data, Berkeley Cannabis Research Center and members of RII’s Water Working Group, the Cannabis Water Report is scheduled to be published in full in 2021 and will establish a scientific understanding of how, and how much, water is used for cannabis cultivation so that cultivators have confidence in taking steps to be more efficient, and so that industry leaders, governments and media can be accurately informed about the range of water practices of today’s regulated market

Speakers:

  • Derek Smith, Executive Director, Resource Innovation Institute
  • Gretchen Schimelpfenig, Technical Director, Resource Innovation Institute
  • John Kagia Chief Knowledge Officer New Frontier Data
